Spent a lovely weekend on planes drinking wine and knitting. Towards the end of my flight from Portland yesterday I realized that I was going to run out of wool for the cushion cover, so I hatched another plan! I am a genius! I won’t use another wool, I will go mixed media and use fabric! Five minutes later, after posting my crafting emergency on here, I realized I did have enough wool…just… as you can see!
But dammit, I was super into this crafting emergency! I want to show the world I can pivot! And I have some lovely Kiwi fabric to do it. So I did, like the crafting rebel I am.
I ordered the fabric AGES ago when on my obsessive quilting kick. Pop quiz…what bird is that?
A TUI!
Anyway, Finn, tell Ava I finished her first knitted gift. It is kind of a shambles, but that is the joy of crafting when someone makes something for you. You can see every step, mistake and inconsistency, and just like life, it makes it unique. When I knit I think about the person I am making it for most of the process. So knitting for me, is a form of giving love and good thoughts, no matter how “quirky” the product ends up being!
Oh and here is the back. Did just stocking stitch (where you knit a row then purl a row), which is how I was able to knit and have a wine (it is easy and doesn’t require counting).
I love it! I’m a new big fan of yours, from all the way over in the US. 😘
The imperfections are what make our creations unique, one of a kind.
