My slow cooker is my saviour, I hate cooking on top of everything else going on with a wild five year old so knowing I can just whack a bunch of stuff in it and dinner will be ready hours later is such a burden lifted!

I love my crockpot! When I moved to Mexico in 2010, I brought TWO with me, just in case. They were both vintage at the time and one died. Non-repairable. I still have my original (must be 50 years old now!) and I cherish it (and use it every couple of weeks). My only complaint? The cord is quite short. If I put it on the sidewalk to leave it doing its crockpot thing all night, (makes my tiny kitchen too hot) I have to put it up on a chair and still use an extension cord to reach the wall plug.

We love our crock pot, it's our go-to recommendation for new parents - you can chuck something in there in the morning, and have hot food ready whenever the baby decides to give you 5 minutes to eat!
I always felt the same about the Crock Pot growing up, it felt special. My Memaw had one, she only used it for family gatherings. It felt like a long time before I bought one and embraced the amazingness that is experimenting and starting dinner early in the day to have an easier evening meal.
Oh yea, when I moved into my first apartment, a crackpot was ESSENTIAL. And then my mom got me an Instant Pot and that's basically a crock pot that can do more stuff. My one complaint about it I don't have a pink one.
The pressure cooker part of an InstaPot really simplifies and speeds up a lot of things, plus you can also use it as a slow cooker. (Although my rice cooker also has a slow cooker function!) I hear you can even get air fryer attachments for the InstaPot... Truly we live in a world of wonders.
Oh! Forgot to mention one of the main benefits of the InstaPot...if you have occasional squirrel brain like I do, and forget to start the crock pot in the AM, you can catch up pretty quick with the pressure cooking!
My parents got one as (if memory serves) a wedding present, it lasted for about 35 years! A slower cooker was the ‘must have’ thing to be given when we left home. I make scotch broth in mine at least once a month.
My mother never cooked with her crockpot either and I thought it was also weird and unnecessary complicated appliance. I became an adult and realized theactual magic of it and it was simple. Crock pot meals for the win.
OH! Forgot to say, use cornflower or cornstarch to thicken up the gravy for the stew (you get that Finn?)
yayyy love u
Love you more.
Thank you for all the recipes! And crack pot is sadly on target for today.

Pot roast and sauerkraut & pork are two of my Crock Pot staples. We've had our off-brand Crock Pot since we got married in 2002.
On of my favorites, chicken breast, a jar of salsa, some taco seasoning and a can of black beans or pinto beans. Cool on low for like 4 hours.
Shredded the chicken and put it on rice with some cheese and avocado for a quick burrito bowl!

All hail the crock pot! The best thing is coming in the door after work to find that dinner is basically done. 😌

Instant Pots are amazing. Browns the meat for you!
I have a crock pot branded instapot...but I never use it except to cook rice! Maybe that should be a new challenge.
